This site is about model and prototype railroading, and features information about my layout and other layouts. The C&SFT is a fictional Switching railroad serving the area between the IHB and EJ&E mainlines near the Illinois / Indiana state line, from the mid-1970's to mid-1980's.

Since December 2007 I have been making a video series about model and prototype railroading and have been uploading them to YouTube. The latest one has just been uploaded today, and features a Switch Job switching the Forest Junction industries.

What do Laptop Computers and Model Railroad Turnouts have in common?

I found an interesting way to power turnout point motors on my layout. Originally I used a 13 Volt Automotive Battery Charger. But I found the turnout motors were not always responding well, and sometimes they were very noisy.

Of Cameras and Cars

After producing a number of videos of my layout ( see http://www.youtube.com/jimsmodeltrains ) I have decided I want to try some video taken on trains on my layout. I have seen a number of good cab view type videos of layouts on YouTube, and want to see how I go at that sort of thing.
