Domain Name Settings

To make your domain point to the correct server, you need to set the Primary and Secondary DNS addresses, also refered to as Name Servers. This is done through your domain's registrar, as outlined in the documentation your registrar provided to you. The settings are:

  • Primary DNS (name server): ns5.ns0.com (IP Address: 216.92.61.30)
  • Secondary DNS (name server): ns202.pair.com (IP Address: 209.68.2.47)

When you change your domain's server details to those outlined above, it can take anywhere from 3 to 48 hours for the site to come online using that domain as a reference, as the changes you make have to be updated over the whole internet worldwide. If after 48 hours, entering the domain into the location box in the browser doesn't show your website, please contact us using the methods outlined on our home page in the Contact Details section.

Account Control Panel Access

All access to account administrative functions via the Control Panel is restricted to your web hosting service. If you wish to add or delete or administer an email address, or manage a database, or manage hosting account domain settings you need to contact me any of the following ways, and I will make the changes for you. Most changes are free, but setting up domains incurs a small set up charge.

You can contact me by any method indicated on the Contact Me page, accessible from the Home page.

Upgrades/Downgrades for your hosting account

Sending Mail (SMTP) Problem

If you can not send email using mail.yourdomainname.com or relay.pair.com as your SMTP server, it may be because your ISP is blocking port 25 on their network, used for sending outoing mail via the SMTP protocol. In this instance, we recommend using your ISPs outgoing mail server, which can be obtained from your ISP. This practice has been put in place in an effort to stop spam. Telstra and Optus are some well known companies that have implemented the blocking of port 25 on their network. If you are having problems with sending mail through your hosting account, please see your ISP's website or one of their customer representatives for help on this problem before seeing us about it.

Relaying mail through your ISP will not change the look and appearance of email you send. It will simply use your ISPs outgoing mail server to relay your message, which will appear from your email address, etc.

Using FTP

If your web site is maintained by me on your behalf you will not normally have FTP access to your files. If this is the case and you need FTP access to your account, you can request a temporary FTP login which will be set up for 24 hours or less. If your website is maintained by you or your organisation, you will have FTP access to your website on an ongoing basis. To use FTP, you need to set up your FTP client to access the server. You will need to use the following settings:

  • Protocol: SFTP (recommended) or FTP
  • Port: 22
  • Server: maym.pair.com
  • Username: supplied to you when account was set up.
  • Password: supplied to you when account was set up.
